Quick answer

Which military calculator do you need?

Most people arrive with one of six questions: how much will I be paid, how much is my housing allowance, what will I get when I retire, what is my VA disability rating worth, did I pass my PT test, or which jobs do my ASVAB scores unlock. Each has its own calculator below, grouped by topic and filtered by who you are.

Every DexoCalc military tool uses the tables in force today (the 2026 DFAS pay table, 2026 BAH and BAS, the 2.8% VA COLA and the current fitness standards of each branch), shows its formula and cites the official source, so you can check the math against your LES, myPay or a VA decision letter.

Real people, real checks

How we build and verify every military calculator

DexoCalc is independent and hand-built, not a content farm. Its developer has never worn the uniform and will never pretend to. The job here is narrower and checkable: copy the official tables without errors, show the formula and keep each tool current.

Source first

We start from the primary document: the DFAS pay table, the DTMO BAH file, the VA rate table or the branch’s fitness order. Blogs are never the source.

Formula in the open

Each page prints the formula, the assumptions and a worked example, so you can redo the math by hand.

Test the edges

We test boundary cases such as over-40 pay steps, the 0.5 rounding on VA ratings and age-group cutoffs, and compare results with the official charts.

Date-stamp it

Every tool shows the table year and the date it was last reviewed. When a rule changes, the page changes the same day.

Military calculators FAQ

Military calculators are online tools that turn official military tables into personal answers: your monthly pay and BAH, your retirement pension, your VA disability rating, your PT test score, your ASVAB line scores or a 24-hour time conversion. DexoCalc’s tools are free, run in your browser and are checked against DFAS, VA and service publications.

No. DexoCalc is an independent site and is not affiliated with the Department of Defense, any branch of service or the Department of Veterans Affairs. Our results are estimates built from the official published tables. Your Leave and Earnings Statement (LES), myPay, your unit’s fitness program or the VA decide your official numbers.

Military basic pay rose 3.8% for all ranks, effective January 1, 2026. The average Basic Allowance for Housing rose 4.2%, and BAS became $476.95 a month for enlisted members and $328.48 for officers.

The President’s August 26, 2026 pay plan sets 7% for E-1 to E-5, 6% for E-6 to O-3 and 5% for O-4 and above from January 1, 2027, and the House NDAA matches it. The Senate committee bill provides a flat 3.6%. The plan applies unless the final NDAA, usually signed in December, sets a different rate. Our Military Pay Raise Calculator shows both for your grade.

BAH depends on three things: the ZIP code of your duty station (its Military Housing Area), your pay grade and whether you have dependents. Rates are set each year from local rental and utility costs and are tax-free. Our BAH calculator turns your rate into its yearly and taxable-equivalent value, compares two duty stations and lists 2026 partial BAH and BAH Type II rates.

The VA uses a whole-person method rather than adding percentages. Ratings are applied from highest to lowest against the remaining healthy percentage, then the result is rounded to the nearest 10. For example, 50% and 30% combine to 65%, which rounds to a 70% combined rating.

The Army Fitness Test (AFT) became the Army’s test of record on June 1, 2025, replacing the ACFT. It has five events, requires at least 60 points per event and uses a 300-point general standard and a 350-point sex-neutral combat standard for designated combat specialties.

For times from 1:00 a.m. to 12:59 p.m., drop the colon and add a leading zero if needed (9:15 a.m. becomes 0915). For 1:00 p.m. to 11:59 p.m., add 12 to the hour (3:30 p.m. becomes 1530). Midnight is 0000, and you say the time as “fifteen-thirty hours”.

The ASVAB is the full aptitude battery of nine or ten subtests. The AFQT is a percentile from 1 to 99 built from four of them (Arithmetic Reasoning, Mathematics Knowledge, Word Knowledge and Paragraph Comprehension), and it decides whether you can enlist. ASVAB line scores decide which jobs you qualify for.

Every calculator is designed, coded and tested by Manzoor Ahmad, a pharmacist turned calculator developer and web designer with more than 13 years of web development experience. He is not a service member, so each tool is built only from official published tables and cites them on the page.

We review the hub and every tool when official numbers change: each January for basic pay, BAH and BAS, each December for VA and retiree cost-of-living adjustments, and whenever a branch publishes new fitness tables. The update log on this page shows the latest change.

No. Every calculation runs in your own browser. We do not ask for your name, Social Security number, DoD ID or service records, and nothing you type is sent to our servers.

I am a pharmacist turned tech geek, and I design, code and test every calculator on DexoCalc myself. Pharmacy taught me one habit that matters here: a number is only as good as the table it came from, so I double-check every dose, and now every pay cell. I have not served in the military. That is exactly why each tool on this hub is built only from DFAS, DoD, VA and service publications, prints its formula and links its sources, so a soldier, sailor, airman, Marine, Guardian, Coast Guardsman or veteran can check my work line by line.
