Coast Guard PFT Calculator2026 USCG Physical Fitness Test Score Calculator: Push-ups, Plank, Run, Row & Swim
The Coast Guard PFT scores three events (1-minute push-ups, a forearm plank and a 1.5-mile run, 2000 m row or swim) from 45 to 100 points each, and you pass when every event reaches 45. Enter your age and results to see pass status, each event’s category, what the next row needs and your retake window.
Every cell comes from COMDTINST 6100.1, Physical Readiness Program (16 June 2026), Appendices A and B: both sexes, 11 age groups, all six events.

How the Coast Guard PFT is scored in 2026
The Coast Guard Physical Fitness Test (PFT) has three events done in order on the same day: 1-minute push-ups, a forearm plank and one cardio event (1.5-mile run/walk, 2000 m row, 500 yd swim or 450 m swim). Each event is worth 45 to 100 points in 5-point steps from age- and sex-normed tables. You pass when every event reaches at least 45 points; there is no total score to hit.
Every number in this calculator comes from COMDTINST 6100.1, Physical Readiness Program (16 June 2026), Appendix A (women) and Appendix B (men): 22 age-and-sex tables, 12 point rows each, six events per row. Official record testing began July 1, 2026.
The three PFT events
| Order | Event | How it is scored | If not completed |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Push-ups | Most correct reps in 1 minute | Score of 0 and PFT failure |
| 2 | Forearm plank | Longest hold (min:sec) | Score of 0 and PFT failure |
| 3 | Cardio (choose one) | 1.5-mile run/walk (course or treadmill), 2000 m row, 500 yd swim or 450 m swim | Recorded as 59:59 and PFT failure |
The three events must be done the same day in this order with no more than 15 minutes of rest between them (COMDTINST 6100.1, para 16.a).
How each event earns points
The tables have no in-between values. A 1.5-mile run that is one second slower than the 75-point time earns 70 points, so a few seconds near a row boundary can be worth a full step.
Evaluation categories and marks
| Event points | Evaluation category | Evaluation mark |
|---|---|---|
| 90 to 100 | Superior | 7 |
| 75 to 85 | Excellent | 6 |
| 60 to 70 | Above Average | 5 |
| 45 to 55 | Average | 4 |
| Fail any one event | Noncompliant | 3 |
| Fail any two events | Noncompliant | 2 |
| Fail all three events | Noncompliant | 1 |

If you fail: retake and compliance rules
Request the retake in writing to your unit PRL within 24 hours of the failed official PFT. If you pass, you cannot retake to raise your score. Commands may waive the 30-day wait, and the retake must fall inside your current testing cycle.
Failing one event gives an evaluation mark of 3, two events a 2 and all three a 1. These are noncompliant marks.
All four cardio options score on the same 45–100 scale for your group. Pick the one you score highest in, and check the pool length and treadmill rules with your PRL.
The PFT does not include a tape test. Body Composition Standards screening runs under its own instruction (COMDTINST 1020.8).

Coast Guard PFT FAQ
You pass when each of the three events (push-ups, forearm plank and cardio) reaches at least the 45-point minimum for your age and sex. There is no combined total to reach, so one event below 45 fails the whole test.
One-minute push-ups, a forearm plank hold and one cardio event of your choice: 1.5-mile run/walk (course or treadmill), 2000-meter row, 500-yard swim or 450-meter swim. They are done the same day in that order with no more than 15 minutes of rest between events.
For men 25-29 the 1.5-mile run earns 100 points at 8:55 and the 45-point minimum is 14:00. 75 points (Excellent) needs 10:52.
It depends on age and sex. Men 25-29 need 27 push-ups in one minute to pass and 62 for 100 points; women 25-29 need 14 and 47.
Men 25-29 need 1:09 to pass and 3:16 for 100 points; women 25-29 need 0:59 and 3:06. Times get shorter in older age groups.
Each event’s points map to a category: 90-100 Superior (7), 75-85 Excellent (6), 60-70 Above Average (5) and 45-55 Average (4). Failing one event gives a mark of 3, two events a 2 and all three a 1. Direct Access converts raw scores into the official mark.
Yes. You get one official retake between 30 and 60 days after the failed test, requested in writing to your unit PRL within 24 hours. Commands can waive the 30-day wait. If the retake is also failed, the higher overall score of the two is recorded. Members who pass cannot retake to raise their score.
Active duty members, and reservists on long-term ADOS or EAD, test twice a year within their evaluation periods. Selected Reserve members not on those orders test once a year.
The Physical Readiness Program became fully operational on July 1, 2026, when mandatory official PFTs began. The scoring tables are in COMDTINST 6100.1, signed June 16, 2026.
No. Body composition is screened separately under the Body Composition Standards Program (COMDTINST 1020.8). The PFT itself is push-ups, plank and cardio.

I have not served in the military, so this tool does not run on opinion: every value is transcribed programmatically from COMDTINST 6100.1 Appendices A and B (1,584 cells), checked so every column moves in the right direction row by row, and the 45-point minimum row was confirmed against the red minimum rows in the official PDF. The tables on this page are generated from the same data the calculator uses.
