Navy PRT Calculator2026 Navy PRT Score Chart, Standards by Age & Category
The Navy PRT scores push-ups, a forearm plank and a 1.5-mile run (or row or swim) on 12 levels from 45 to 100 points; you must reach Probationary (45) in every event, and your category is the average. Enter your results to see each event’s points, your overall category, pass or fail, and exactly how many reps or seconds lift you to the next level.
Scored with Table 4-1 of the Navy’s Physical Readiness Program Guide-5A (Dec 2025): all 22 age and sex charts, every level, every cardio option.

How the Navy PRT is scored in 2026
The Navy Physical Readiness Test has three events: push-ups in two minutes, a forearm plank, and a 1.5-mile run (or an approved row, swim or bike). Each event earns a performance level worth 45 to 100 points from the Guide-5A tables for your age group and sex. You pass only if every event reaches at least Probationary (45 points); your overall category comes from the average of the event points.
The current rules are in Physical Readiness Program Guide-5A, Physical Readiness Test, dated December 2025. We compared its charts for ages 17–39 with the January 2023 edition and found them identical except for one value: the women’s 17–19 plank for Good High is now 2:13.
Navy PRT categories and points
| Category | Points | Performance levels |
|---|---|---|
| Outstanding | 90–100 | High 100 · Medium 95 · Low 90 |
| Excellent | 75–85 | High 85 · Medium 80 · Low 75 |
| Good | 60–70 | High 70 · Medium 65 · Low 60 |
| Satisfactory | 50–55 | High 55 · Medium 50 |
| Probationary | 45 | Lowest passing level |
| Failure | below 45 | Any event below Probationary fails the whole PRT |
Each event is scored in 12 levels, five points apart. The guide gives no in-between points: you earn the highest level whose listed number you meet or beat, which is how this calculator reads the chart.
Navy PRT minimum standards by age (passing, 45 points)
These are the lowest scores that still pass each event at or below 5,000 feet. Fall short on any one event and the whole test is a failure, however well you did on the other two.

The 12-minute stationary bike is scored on calories in the official PFA app, so its chart is not reproduced here. Commands above 5,000 feet use the separate Table 4-2.
Event rules that cost Sailors points
Lower until the elbows bend to at least 90 degrees with the body straight from head to heels. Pulsing reps do not count, and the event ends if anything other than hands and feet touches the deck.
Elbows under the shoulders, hands unclasped. The timekeeper stops you on the third correction, or if your head drops to your hands or a hand or foot lifts.
Events run in order: push-ups, plank, then cardio, with at least 5 and no more than 15 minutes between each.
1.5-mile run or treadmill at 1% incline, 2,000 m row on a Concept2 Model D or E, 500 yd or 450 m swim, or 12-minute stationary bike, at the CO’s discretion.
How to use this Navy PRT calculator
- Pick your sex and age groupUse the group you will be in on test day. Guide-5A uses eleven groups, from 17–19 to 65+.
- Choose your cardio eventRun, row, or one of the two swims. Each has its own column in the official chart.
- Enter your numbersPush-up reps and times as minutes:seconds, such as 12:30. You can also type 1230.
- Read the gap to the next levelEach event shows how many more reps or seconds you need to move up five points, so you know where training pays off.
Where the easy points are
For men 20–24, each level from 60 to 100 points is only 5 to 20 seconds apart, so a few weeks of plank work often adds two or three levels.
Between Good Low and Excellent High, levels are often 15 to 30 seconds apart. Holding a steady pace is worth more than a fast first lap.
Your category is the average of three events, so lifting your weakest event moves the overall result as much as polishing your best.
Moving up an age group lowers every standard. Check the next group’s chart in the calculator before your birthday falls inside a cycle.

Navy PRT FAQ
Each of the three events (push-ups, forearm plank and cardio) earns one of 12 performance levels worth 45 to 100 points, from the Guide-5A chart for your age group and sex. Your overall category comes from the average of the three event scores, and you pass only if every event is at least Probationary (45 points).
You must reach Probationary (45 points) in every event. For a man aged 20–24 that means at least 37 push-ups, a 1:10 plank and a 13:30 1.5-mile run; for a woman aged 20–24 it is 16 push-ups, a 1:00 plank and a 15:30 run.
Outstanding (90–100 points), Excellent (75–85), Good (60–70), Satisfactory (50–55) and Probationary (45). Each category except Probationary has High, Medium and Low (or High and Medium) levels five points apart.
Guide-5A lists the plank maximum as 3:24 for men and 3:14 for women. Those are the 100-point times for ages 17–19; older groups earn 100 points with shorter holds, down to 2:47 for men and 2:38 for women aged 65 and over.
To pass at 20–24 you need 13:30 or faster (men) or 15:30 or faster (women). Outstanding High at that age takes 8:30 (men) or 9:47 (women). The calculator shows every level for your age group.
Two minutes. Only reps with elbows bent to at least 90 degrees and a straight body count, and the event ends if anything other than your hands and feet touches the deck.
Yes, with your commanding officer’s approval. Options are a 2,000 m row on a Concept2 Model D or E, a 500-yard or 450-meter swim, a 1.5-mile treadmill run at 1% incline, or a 12-minute stationary bike scored on calories.
Yes. Guide-5A requires Probationary or better in every event. A high average does not make up for one event below 45 points.
Eleven groups for each sex: 17–19, 20–24, 25–29, 30–34, 35–39, 40–44, 45–49, 50–54, 55–59, 60–64 and 65+.
Yes. Above 5,000 feet the Navy uses Table 4-2 instead of Table 4-1. This calculator uses Table 4-1, the standard for testing at or below 5,000 feet.
The Physical Fitness Assessment has two parts: the Body Composition Assessment and the PRT. This calculator scores the PRT; use our Navy body fat calculator for the body composition side.
