How do you calculate your exact age?
Subtract your date of birth from today’s date: first the days, then the months, then the years. When the days don’t subtract, borrow the number of days in the previous month. When the months don’t subtract, borrow 12 months from the years. For example, someone born on June 15, 1995 is 31 years, 4 months and 19 days old on November 3, 2026. In total that is 11,464 days.
How to use the age calculator
- Enter your date of birth. Any date from the year 100 onward works, so you can also find the age of a historical figure or a building.
- Leave “Age on” as today, or pick any past or future date: “How old was I on my wedding day?” or “How old will I be on January 1, 2030?”
- Add a birth time if you know it to make the live seconds counter exact. Without it, the counter starts at midnight.
- Read the results: years-months-days, totals in every unit, the weekday you were born, your generation and a countdown to your next birthday.
Age formula
Days = Today's day − Birth day (if negative: + days in last month, months − 1)Months = Today's month − Birth month (if negative: + 12, years − 1)Years = Today's year − Birth yearTotal days = (Today − Date of birth) in days · Weeks = Days ÷ 7 · Hours = Days × 24Worked example: born June 15, 1995, measured on November 3, 2026. Days: 3 − 15 won’t go, so borrow October’s 31 days: 34 − 15 = 19, and the month becomes 10. Months: 10 − 6 = 4. Years: 2026 − 1995 = 31. Age = 31 years, 4 months, 19 days.

Why online ages sometimes disagree
Leap-day birthdays
If you were born on February 29, most legal systems treat February 28 or March 1 as your birthday in common years. This calculator uses February 28.
Month-end borrowing
From January 31 to March 1 some tools say “1 month 1 day” and others “29 days”. We count calendar months, the same way the chronological age calculator does.
East Asian age counting
Traditional Korean age counts you as 1 at birth. South Korea officially switched to international age in 2023. This calculator uses international age.
Time zones
Someone born at 11 PM in New York was born on the next day in London. Use the date on the birth certificate.

Using Pew Research Center definitions: Baby Boomers were born 1946–1964, Generation X 1965–1980, Millennials 1981–1996 and Generation Z 1997–2012. Those born from 2013 on are commonly called Generation Alpha.
