Your Air Force PT score chart
Minimum result for each point level in your age group, read from the official charts. Rows you currently reach are highlighted.
Quick answer: The 2026 Air Force PT test, the Physical Fitness Readiness Assessment (PFRA), is scored out of 100 points: cardio 50 (2-mile run or 20-meter HAMR), waist-to-height ratio 20, muscular strength 15, and core endurance 15. You pass with a composite of 75 or higher and every component minimum met. A score of 90 or higher is Excellent.
How this Air Force PT calculator works
The calculator holds every cell of the official Final USAF PFRA Scoring Charts for all nine age groups and both sexes. Each result is matched to the highest point row it meets: at or below the listed time for the run, and at or above the listed count or time for the HAMR, push-ups, sit-ups, reverse crunches, and plank. Results below the asterisked minimum row score zero for that component, as DAFMAN 36-2905 requires.
Body composition follows the manual’s measuring rules. Height is recorded to the nearest half inch, the waist is rounded down to the nearest half inch, and the ratio is truncated, not rounded, to two decimals before it is scored. At test sites 5,250 feet or higher, the run time and HAMR count are corrected using the altitude tables in Attachment 3.
The US Air Force PT calculator then adds your components, applies the 75-point composite and the component minimums, and tells you whether you are Excellent, Satisfactory, or Unsatisfactory. It also shows how to get there faster.
What changed in the 2026 Air Force fitness test
- The 2-mile run replaced the 1.5-mile run as the primary cardio event. The 20-meter High Aerobic Multi-shuttle Run (HAMR) remains the alternative.
- Waist-to-height ratio became a scored component, worth 20 points, in place of the old waist-circumference measurement.
- More event choices. Strength can be 1-minute push-ups or 2-minute hand-release push-ups. Core can be 1-minute sit-ups, 2-minute cross-leg reverse crunches, or a timed forearm plank.
- Testing every six months. Airmen now test twice a year regardless of their previous score.
- Timeline. All tests from 1 March to 30 June 2026 were diagnostic. Official testing for record under the new standards began on 1 July 2026.
Looking for Air Force 1.5-mile run standards? The 1.5-mile run no longer appears on the PFRA scoring charts. If you only know your old 1.5-mile time, use the predictor above to estimate your 2-mile time and points, then confirm with a timed 2-mile run.
Air Force PT test scoring breakdown
| Component | Event options | Max points | Minimum |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cardiorespiratory | 2-mile run or 20 m HAMR (2 km walk for medical profiles) | 50 | 35.0 points |
| Body composition | Waist-to-height ratio | 20 | No minimum |
| Muscular strength | Push-ups (1 min) or hand-release push-ups (2 min) | 15 | 2.5 points |
| Core endurance | Sit-ups (1 min), cross-leg reverse crunch (2 min), or forearm plank | 15 | 2.5 points |
Hitting only the minimum in every component does not add up to 75, so you cannot pass on minimums alone. That is why the planner above spreads your target across the components.
Passing categories
- Excellent: composite of 90 or higher.
- Satisfactory: composite of 75 to 89.9.
- Unsatisfactory: composite of 74.9 or lower, or any component minimum not met.

Waist-to-height ratio scoring
The WHtR table is the same for every age group and both sexes. Divide your waist by your height, truncate to two decimals, and read the points. The waist is measured at the midpoint between the lowest rib and the top of the hip bone, which differs from the Army’s navel measurement.
| Ratio | Points | Max waist at 64 in | Max waist at 70 in |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.49 or lower | 20 | 31.5 in | 34.5 in |
| 0.50 | 19 | 32.5 in | 35.5 in |
| 0.51 | 18 | 33.0 in | 36.0 in |
| 0.52 | 17 | 33.5 in | 37.0 in |
| 0.53 | 16 | 34.5 in | 37.5 in |
| 0.54 | 15 | 35.0 in | 38.0 in |
| 0.55 | 12.5 | 35.5 in | 39.0 in |
| 0.56 | 10 | 36.0 in | 39.5 in |
| 0.57 | 7.5 | 37.0 in | 40.5 in |
| 0.58 | 5 | 37.5 in | 41.0 in |
| 0.59 | 2.5 | 38.0 in | 41.5 in |
| 0.60 or higher | 0 | Above 38.0 in | Above 41.5 in |
If your ratio is 0.55 or higher and you are not meeting PFRA standards, the manual requires a secondary body fat assessment using an InBody scale or the tape method. The body fat limits are 26% for men and 36% for women.
The 2 km walk for medical profiles
Airmen who are medically prohibited from the run and HAMR can take the 2-kilometer walk. It is pass or fail and earns no points. When you pass it, your composite is calculated from the other assessed components, but you cannot earn an Excellent rating. Maximum walk times are 16:16 for men and 17:22 for women under 30, rising with age to 16:58 and 18:53 at 60 and over.
How to raise your Air Force PT score
- Protect the cardio score. It is half the test. For men under 25, each step in the middle of the run table is about 19 seconds, so pace work on 400-meter and 800-meter repeats pays off quickly.
- Pick the right events. Use the option advisor above. Many airmen score higher with hand-release push-ups or the plank than with the event they used under the old test.
- Treat WHtR as free points. Every 0.01 of ratio is worth 1 to 2.5 points. For a 70-inch airman, 0.01 of ratio is only 0.7 inches of waist.
- Test at altitude? Select your altitude group. The correction is automatic in this calculator.

Air Force PT calculator FAQ
The Physical Fitness Readiness Assessment is scored out of 100 points. Cardio is worth 50 (2-mile run or 20-meter HAMR), waist-to-height ratio 20, muscular strength 15 (push-ups or hand-release push-ups), and core endurance 15 (sit-ups, cross-leg reverse crunch, or forearm plank). Your four component scores are added to give your composite.
You pass with a composite of 75 or higher, as long as you meet every component minimum: 35 points in cardio and 2.5 points in both strength and core. Waist-to-height ratio has no minimum. A composite of 90 or higher is rated Excellent, and 75 to 89.9 is Satisfactory.
Yes. Under the 2026 program, the 2-mile run replaced the 1.5-mile run as the primary cardio event, with the 20-meter HAMR as the alternative. The 1.5-mile run is not on the current scoring charts. This calculator includes a predictor that estimates your 2-mile time from an old 1.5-mile result.
The new scoring charts took effect on 1 March 2026. Tests from 1 March through 30 June 2026 were diagnostic only, and official testing for record under the new standards began on 1 July 2026.
It depends on your age and sex. For men under 25, 13:25 or faster earns the full 50 points and 19:45 is the 35-point minimum. For women under 25, the range is 15:30 to 25:23. Select your age group in the calculator to see your exact times.
Divide your waist by your height and truncate the result to two decimals. A ratio of 0.49 or lower earns all 20 points, 0.55 earns 12.5 points, and 0.60 or higher earns zero. The table is the same for every age group and both sexes, and there is no minimum score for this component.
It depends on the person. Push-ups are scored over 1 minute and hand-release push-ups over 2 minutes, with different rep counts for each point level. The option advisor in this calculator shows how many reps of each you need for the same score, so you can pick the event that suits you.
A result below the asterisked minimum row on the chart scores zero for that component, and the whole assessment is rated Unsatisfactory, no matter how high your composite is.
Yes, at test sites 5,250 feet or higher. DAFMAN 36-2905 Attachment 3 subtracts a few seconds from your 2-mile run time and adds 1 to 4 shuttles to your HAMR count, depending on the altitude group. Select your altitude in the calculator and the correction is applied automatically.
No. The 2 km walk is pass or fail and earns no points. If you pass, your composite is calculated from the other assessed components, but members who take the walk are not eligible for the Excellent category.
Under the 2026 program, airmen test every six months. Air Reserve Component members test once every 12 months.
No. It is an independent training tool built from the official AFPC scoring charts effective 1 March 2026 and DAFMAN 36-2905. Your official score is the one your fitness assessment cell records.
