Why Heart Rate Beats a Generic MET Chart for Personalization
Standard MET-based calculators (like our Swimming Calories Burned Calculator or Walking Calorie Calculator) assign a fixed intensity value to an activity — “moderate freestyle” always gets the same MET regardless of who’s swimming. That’s useful when you don’t have a heart rate monitor, but it can’t account for individual fitness differences.
