How to Calculate Price Per Ounce

Price per ounce = Total price ÷ Total ounces. A 12 oz bag of coffee for $4.99 costs $4.99 ÷ 12 = $0.416 per ounce. If the package is labeled in pounds, multiply by 16 first: a 1.5 lb bag is 24 oz, so $8.49 ÷ 24 = $0.354 per ounce — about 15% cheaper.
