What Is TrumpRx?
TrumpRx.gov is a federal direct-to-consumer prescription pricing website that launched February 5, 2026, built on Most-Favored-Nation (MFN) pricing arrangements the administration negotiated with major pharmaceutical manufacturers. Under MFN pricing, participating manufacturers agree to offer U.S. cash-pay patients prices closer to what other wealthy countries pay, rather than the typically higher U.S. list price. The catalog launched with roughly 40 brand-name medications and expanded to more than 800 medications, including generics, through the May and June 2026 expansions.
Cash-pay only
TrumpRx prices are for patients paying out of pocket. Purchases can’t be submitted to insurance for reimbursement and don’t count toward your deductible or out-of-pocket maximum.
Government-insured patients excluded
Anyone currently enrolled in Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, VA healthcare, Medigap, or another government-funded prescription program is not eligible for TrumpRx discounts — even if they’d technically pay cash for a specific drug.
You still need a prescription
TrumpRx doesn’t prescribe medication. Your doctor sends the prescription to a pharmacy as usual — TrumpRx generates the discount coupon you use when you pay.
Biggest wins on uncovered drugs
TrumpRx tends to offer the clearest savings on medications many insurance plans don’t cover well, like GLP-1 weight-loss drugs and fertility medications — precisely the categories where cash-pay list prices are highest.

Check your insurance copay first
If your plan covers the drug, your copay is very often lower than any cash price — TrumpRx included. Insurance almost always wins when a drug is on your formulary.
Ask your pharmacist if a generic exists

What to Know Before You Rely on TrumpRx
Eligibility is narrower than headlines suggest
Most Americans with employer-sponsored insurance or Medicare Part D already pay less through their normal copay than the TrumpRx cash price — and anyone on Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, or VA coverage is excluded from TrumpRx pricing entirely.
Brand prices aren’t always the cheapest option
A Joint Economic Committee analysis found several brand-name drugs on TrumpRx have significantly cheaper generic equivalents that aren’t listed on the platform at all — in one modeled family example, a difference of roughly $2,142 over a year.
Prices and eligibility change frequently
The catalog has expanded several times since the February 2026 launch, and individual drug prices have moved as new manufacturer agreements are added. Always verify the current price on trumprx.gov before assuming a figure here still applies.
TrumpRx doesn’t count toward your deductible
If you’re insured and close to meeting your annual deductible, paying cash through TrumpRx — even at a lower sticker price — could cost you more over the year by not contributing toward that threshold.
